NAB 2015 Impressions: ARRI S60/S30 Skypanel LED

NAB 2015 Impressions: ARRI S60/S30 Skypanel LED

The ARRI S60 and S30 Skypanel lighting system. This LED based product has the same sort of hue and saturation tuning that made their L7C LED Fresnel popular. And you get ARRI’s legendary brand of functionality, versatility, and durability to boot. A variety of front panel inserts allow you to shape the beam to suit the needs of your environment.  Both the larger S60 Skypanel and the smaller S30 can be powered by a block battery, making it an excellent soft light source for the mobile shooter. Additionally, the Skypanels are fully DMX controllable. We expect ARRI to give Kino Flo and LitePanels a run for their money with this product! Bookmark it to Stumbleupon, Digg, and more! Hide...

Litepanels LED Lighting

Litepanels has changed the way people think about LED (light emitting diode) production lighting.  With Litepanels 1×1 and Miniplus lighting fixtures, we see the highly mobile, yet powerful output that makes Litepanels an ideal option for everything from studio setups to documentary shoots and beyond. Available in 5600K and 3200K temperatures, the Litepanels 1×1 is an absolute workhorse.  Whether you’re key lighting a news anchor or filling the shadows on a daytime exterior, the Litepanels 1×1 is a friend you can rely on.  Lightweight and capable of running on Anton Bauer batteries or AC power, the 1×1 is a convenient and efficient answer for long hand-held sessions and static shoots.  Easily dimmable via a toggle on the back, the 1×1 can also be adapted via drop-in gels (CTO, CTB, etc). Small and powerful, the Litepanels Miniplus kits are ideal for everything from running and gunning to functioning as an eye light.  Fully dimmable, these lights can mount directly on-camera via an articulated arm or hot shoe mount.  Emitting heat and flicker free light, the Litepanels Miniplus kits are available in flood and spot configurations.  The Litepanels Miniplus batteries will power your light for hours at full capacity – this efficiency and adaptability makes the Litepanels Miniplus systems optimal for low-light shooting (night clubs, concerts, etc) where you need a rich fill light without the hassle of generators, stingers or stands. TYE Studios and Moving Picture – Canon/Broncolor Event

Moving Picture recently had the pleasure of participating in the TYE Studios Canon/Broncolor event.  TYE owner Donna Peplin and her staff of seasoned professionals opened their doors to local, South Florida still photography enthusiasts for an informative day of equipment demonstrations and artistic discussion. With a full range of grip and lighting equipment available for rental, Moving Picture was there to demonstrate our broad selection of continuous lighting.  To provide hands-on experience with our gear, we constructed a full studio lighting setup for event-goers.  This lighting arrangement consisted of two Kino Flo Diva Lite 400 kits, an ARRI 150w Fresnel, a Litepanels 1×1 LED, a California Sunbounce, and a few C-stands and sandbags.  The full dimmer controls of the Kino Flo lights and Litepanels LED make this setup extremely versatile and unintimidating to jump into.  This photographer’s lighting package was also assembled with portability in mind – the entire setup will break down in ten minutes and fit into your average sedan. The day was a success thanks to the fantastic crew at TYE Studios, including Keary Cunningham, Julius Gregario, and Zack Hughes.  Special thanks to Donna Peplin for hosting this wonderful event! The California Sunbounce Pro

The California Sunbounce Pro is a convenient and efficient solution for many lighting situations.  Consisting of tightly stretched fabric with two variant sides, zebra (a herringbone pattern of silver and gold) and white, the Sunbounce Pro can function as a reflector, diffuser, or shade.  Reflection of light from the zebra side reduces temperature by 400 degrees Kelvin (5000 Kelvin light is reduced to 4600 Kelvin when reflected).  Especially helpful when filming outside, the Sunbounce Pro can easily be handheld or c-stand mounted. With a collapsible frame, the Sunbounce Pro can be constructed or disassembled in minutes and will fit inside an extremely compact travel bag. Matthews Hot Flags

Matthews Studio Equipment unveiled their new line of “Hot Flags” at this year’s NAB Convention in Las Vegas.  Engineered to withstand up to 1800 degrees Fahrenheit, Hot Flags can be placed directly in front of high wattage lights without fear of a burnout. Comparing the Hot Flag in a side by side test with the Matthews Metal Hi Temp Flag, each was positioned just inches from an ARRI 12K HMI.  A hole was burned through the metal flag inside of ten minutes while the Hot Flag showed no signs of damage for the duration of the test.  Allowing for safer on set workflow and more versatile lighting setups, Hot Flags are an innovative alternative to your everyday flag. Rent these great new flags along with a full selection of other grip gear from Moving Picture.  Available for shipping within the United States and abroad. Bookmark it to Stumbleupon, Digg, and more!
