The Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM

The Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM lens is the successor to the long respected telezoom lens that contributed greatly in making this Canon lens line a favorite among directors of photography and home consumers alike.  Dust and drip-proof, the Canon L series lenses offer stunning image technology paired with robust engineering. With a reduction of the minimum focus distance to 1.2m and an increase in the maximum magnification to .21x, the Canon EF 70-200mm II captures a rich depth of field that allows shooters a great deal of versatility in image selection.  News photographers and commercial DPs will love this lens for the same reason – flexibility paired with spectacular image quality. Furthering their commitment to improving upon original designs, Canon engineers rehashed the internal optical system to include 23 elements in 19 groups.  The end result is high contrast images with edge-to-edge definition.  Adding greatly to this redesign, the EF 70-200mm II features a major reduction in the protrusion of exterior parts and switches along with a new high-speed Auto Focus (AF) system.  A ring-type USM AF motor combined with a new high-speed CPU and optimized AF algorithm is at the core of the EF 70-200mm II AF system, making it both faster and quieter than previous systems. This lens is an excellent addition to any Canon 5D or Canon 7D package.  Rent the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM lens from Moving Picture today! Bookmark it to Stumbleupon, Digg, and more! Hide...

TYE Studios and Moving Picture – Canon/Broncolor Event

Moving Picture recently had the pleasure of participating in the TYE Studios Canon/Broncolor event.  TYE owner Donna Peplin and her staff of seasoned professionals opened their doors to local, South Florida still photography enthusiasts for an informative day of equipment demonstrations and artistic discussion. With a full range of grip and lighting equipment available for rental, Moving Picture was there to demonstrate our broad selection of continuous lighting.  To provide hands-on experience with our gear, we constructed a full studio lighting setup for event-goers.  This lighting arrangement consisted of two Kino Flo Diva Lite 400 kits, an ARRI 150w Fresnel, a Litepanels 1×1 LED, a California Sunbounce, and a few C-stands and sandbags.  The full dimmer controls of the Kino Flo lights and Litepanels LED make this setup extremely versatile and unintimidating to jump into.  This photographer’s lighting package was also assembled with portability in mind – the entire setup will break down in ten minutes and fit into your average sedan. The day was a success thanks to the fantastic crew at TYE Studios, including Keary Cunningham, Julius Gregario, and Zack Hughes.  Special thanks to Donna Peplin for hosting this wonderful event! Run and Gun Kit for Canon EOS 5D Mark II and EOS 7D

Keeping with the DSLR revolution, we’ve consistently seen new innovations in support for cameras like the Canon EOS 5D Mark II and Canon EOS 7D throughout the past year.  Recently released, the iDC Run & Gun Kit has quickly become one of our favorite new DSLR accessories. Bruce Dorn, engineer/creator behind many of iDC’s inventions, explains: “over-sized and overly-complex focusing systems might look butch but they effectively waste the stealthy advantages of a compact capture device like the Canon 5D.”  While elaborate rigs like the Redrock DSLR Cinema Bundle offer robust camera support the iDC Run & Gun Kit features a stripped down, compact design that highlights the relatively tiny size of DSLR cameras. The primary elements of the iDC Run & Gun Kit are the Hoodman 3.0 Loupe and iDC Follow Focus.  Fully attachable to the camera in less than a minute, separate designs fit specifically to the different body styles of the Canon 5D and Canon 7D. The iDC Follow Focus fits snugly against the DSLR focus ring.  Rotate the friction wheel counter clockwise to move towards infinity, clockwise to bring the focus plane towards the camera.  Witness marks are also included to improve the functionality of this sleek design whether you’re shooting solo or employing the skills of a camera assistant. These small additions make a massive difference in the functionality of DLSR shooting.  Quickly mounting and detaching from standard tripods, a camera operator can switch to handheld shooting in a moment’s notice. The iDC Run & Gun Kit is a great reminder of the shooting versatility available with DSLR cameras.  Independent filmmakers now have more opportunities than ever to capture spectacular images on a tight budget.  Rent the iDC Run & Gun Kit, now available at Moving Picture! Blackmagic Design HDMI to SDI Mini Converter

Blackmagic Design’s HDMI to SDI Mini Converter makes HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) workflow easier than ever.  Popular DSLR cameras like the Canon EOS 5D Mark II and Canon EOS 7D feature HDMI ports that allow for seamless integration with the latest audio/video devices.  This relatively new digital alternative to analog connections has added to camera versatility but also limited options for video playback.  The Blackmagic HDMI to SDI converter widens the possibilities for DSLR cameras, creating SDI outputs from an HDMI source.  This gives DSLR users the opportunity to connect to SD-SDI equipment without any headaches. The Blackmagic HDMI to SDI Mini Converter fits easily on top of a camera with the hot shoe adapter.  Moreover, you can also Velcro the Mini Converter to a Zacuto or Redrock Rig when full mobility is needed. The beauty of converting HDMI with the Blackmagic Mini Converter is that the only cable coming from camera is HD-SDI.  This allows for a full video assist setup that features Panasonic BT-LH1700 17” LCD monitors, among others, integrated seamlessly into a DSLR workflow.  A package like this is perfect if you have a client (advertising agency, perhaps) who needs to see what’s being shot. In order to add mobility and function to the Blackmagic converter, we include with every rental a Nebtek battery adapter that uses standard Sony L-Batteries.  This avoids all the issues that come with depending on an AC power source when in the field.  The Blackmagic HDMI to SDI Mini Converter is available for rent with Moving Picture, your answer for DSLR cameras and accessories!
